Image Of ‘The Slumber Party Massacre’ Reboot Revealed
Lights out–and don’t let the bed bugs (or crazed killers) bite.
The remake of the 1982 cult slasher film The Slumber Party Massacre–from Shout! Studios and destined for Syfy later this year–is premiering soon at the Cannes Film Market, according to movieweb.com. And the first image from the film–showing the slumber partygoers peering fearfully through a window at who-knows-what–is on this page.
The reboot–directed by Danishka Esterhazy (The Banana Splits Movie) from a screenplay by Suzanne Keilly (Ash vs Evil Dead)–is expected to debut sometime during Syfy’s 31 Days of Halloween event.
The movie, according to the official synopsis, is “a contemporary, twist-filled reimagining of the 1982 classic just in time for Halloween. A slumber party turns into a bloodbath as a psychotic serial killer disrupts the fun.” Don’t you just hate when that happens? The remake stars Frances Sholto-Douglas, Hannah Gonera, Mila Rayne, Alex McGregor and Reze-Tiana Wessels.
The original The Slumber Party Massacre–from director Amy Holden Jones and screenwriter Rita Mae Brown–follows a high school senior who gathers her friends for a slumber party, “unaware that an escaped power drill-wielding killer is loose in the neighborhood.” The film–which gave birth to two sequels–earned $3.6 million at the box office on a budget of $220,000.
